Mentoring with IRL Pathways
Mentoring is all about having someone you can trust and understands your needs.
At IRL Pathways, you’ll get support from a mentor who listens, understands and is able to guide you, with a non-judgemental approach. It’s a space where you can talk openly, figure things out and plan what’s next.
We are bound by our Safeguarding and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures, which will be discussed with you at the beginning and you will be reminded of throughout the time you are choosing to engage with our mentors.
What Happens in Mentoring?
When you start, you and your mentor will:
-
Get to know each other and form an understanding of each other.
-
Acknowledge why you have been referred to the mentoring programme or why you have chosen to be involved
-
You may wish to set some mutually agreed norms for your sessions.
-
Identify and talk over what you want to achieve
-
Together, you’ll set goals and work towards them at your own pace. Your mentor will help you stay motivated, build confidence and deal with any challenges along the way.
Where Mentoring Takes Place
IRL Pathways will provide mentoring in various locations that suit your circumstances and possibly when you are experiencing new activities.
Mentoring is not always going to be in a room or formal setting, as young people may choose to be somewhere more relaxed and while they are engaged with other activities.
